Delta Abandons Transatlantic Flight Path After Brief Five-Month Stint

Delta cancels the long-haul flight to Heathrow in a strategic move to its long-haul flight network.
Delta has reshuffled its long-haul networking strategy as part of its expansion policy. The latest changes have been made to the recently started long-haul flight between Orlando and London Heathrow Airport (LHR).
A Delta spokesperson told the press that the airline will not resume the Orlando to Heathrow route this October. The move comes right after a short stint of five months on the route.
Delta began its operation on the route in October 2024 and ended in March.
The news comes on the back of two other flights that ended in recent months: One from Los Angeles to Papeete (Tahiti) and a second from Atlanta to Marrakech (Morocco).
The earlier plans confirmed that Orlando-to-Heathrow was poised for another season, per the Cirium Diio schedule data.
"Delta manages to meet the demands of its flyers. The change will not impact the travel plans as passengers will continue enjoying the nonstop long-haul benefits with its joint venture partner, Virgin Atlantic. Our team will contact and update the concerned passengers, and we apologize for any inconvenience they were caused. We consider their best interests while drafting new itineraries; rest assured."
